Why a fractional general counsel

Templates start a business. Structure sustains one.

Most growing companies do not need a full-time lawyer.

They need one attorney who understands the business, owns the legal relationship, and builds structure before cost shows up as dispute, delay, or drift.

Fixed recurring scope. Separately priced work is identified and approved before it begins.

One counsel relationship, visible work, and clear boundaries around what the business actually uses.
Services Bank · Scope-specific

Included work, made operational in writing.

A Services Bank is the module-specific monthly work allowance stated in the Scope Addendum. It is not a universal hour bucket or a promise of unstated access, response time, or capacity.

Measured by the module
Each Scope Addendum states its included monthly work allowance using the unit that fits the work: defined deliverables, review sessions, strategy time, or another expressly stated measure.
Limited to written scope
Drafting, review, research, negotiation strategy, and ongoing counsel count only to the extent the selected module and its Scope Addendum include them. A Services Bank is not an unlimited-work promise.
Resets each month
Included capacity resets monthly and does not roll forward. That keeps the bank tied to current operating needs instead of accumulating as a future project balance.
Approval before expansion
Work outside the written bank requires notice, a quote, and approval before it begins. Commercial Contracting live counterparty negotiation is the published exception at the $275-per-hour member rate.

Confirm before signing

  • The exact allowance and how it is measured
  • Which requests count against the bank
  • Who may request work and the expected response or turnaround
  • How spikes, overage, urgent requests, and unavailable counsel are handled
  • Which work requires separate scope or specialist referral

Those operating values are engagement-specific. Only the values stated in the signed engagement and Scope Addendum apply.

The Services Bank makes reserved legal capacity visible inside the monthly plan.

Offer architecture

Make the service feel like a legal function, not a menu of hours.

A fixed-fee legal relationship built around one attorney, visible work, and written boundaries for included and separately priced services.

01

Initial legal map

Contracts, real estate, corporate posture, and operating risk organized into a prioritized plan.

02

Services Bank

Reserved capacity and included work are defined in writing so the monthly plan stays legible.

03

90-day module review

Add-on modules run in ninety-day periods, with a quarterly decision to renew, pause, or replace them.

04

Clear prevention line

Litigation prevention stays inside the relationship. Litigation defense and specialty matters get referred before incentives blur.
